As you can imagine, the Dallas Cowboys historical roster has had countless stars and Pro Bowlers. Whether it was the 70’s, 80’s or 90’s, their history is riddled with great players. Here we discuss more recent stars and eventually we’ll have articles related to rest. DeMarcus Ware, Roy Williams, Jason Witten and Larry Allen have all been to multiple Pro Bowls in the past decade.
As a linebacker DeMarcus Ware is a 3 time Pro Bowler, impressive number considering his NFL experience is four years. In 2008, Ware averaged more than one sack a game with a total of 20 by year end. As a result of his ongoing and exceptional stats, Ware was awarded the NFL Butkus Award, which is given to the best linebacker of the year. His total career sacks are now at 60 (as of the writing of this article). Several top magazines have named Ware the top outside linebacker in the NFL and rightfully so considering his numbers. Drafted by the Cowboys in the 1st round of the NFL draft, Roy Williams has been their star defensive back. He has several touchdowns to his credit, along with a total of more than 400 tackles. Roy’s performance has rewarded him with 5 Pro Bowl showings since his career began in 2002. Another recent Pro Bowler is Jason Witten, one of the best tight ends in the league. In the 2003 NFL draft, Jason was drafted by the Cowboys in the 3rd round. Witten has been to 5 Pro Bowls and has over 5,000 reception yards with the Cowboys. To achieve that many yards, he has over 450 receptions n the past 6 years. It is common knowledge that the offensive lineman receives the least amount of credit, but often does the hardest work. Larry Allen is one of those guys. Larry played for the Cowboys from 1994 to 2005 and was only excluded from the Pro Bowl twice in that eleven year stint, his first year in 1994 and 2002 due to an injury. Larry is an 11 time Pro Bowler and will be remembered as one the Cowboys best offensive lineman in history.
