Notable Players

We might be a little biased on this write up considering we’re Colorado natives. We’ll discuss some of the more recent stars and eventually discuss all of them. Al Wilson, Rod Smith, John Lynch and Champ Bailey will be the topics of this article. Al Wilson played for the Broncos from 1999 to 2006 as defensive middle linebacker. A five time Pro Bowler Al has over 550 tackles in his career and 20 sacks. Wilson’s speed was ranked the highest in the league, which was a major factor in his average of 100 tackles a season. The Broncos would have most likely continued with Al if it wasn’t for his injuries and Broncos salary cap. Rod Smith a wide receiver for the Broncos from 1995 to 2006 chalked up over 11,000 yards. Rod is 3 time Pro Bowler with over 420 points scored for the Broncos. Rod is the first undrafted player to reach 10,000 receiving yards, along with the most catches at 849. Rod is a respected veteran that has helped coach teammates and rookies on and off the field. Acquired from Tampa Bay in 2003, John Lynch proved to be a significant asset to the Broncos defense. John made the Pro Bowl every year with the Broncos from 2004 to 2007; not to mention his 5 Pro Bowl appearances with the Buccaneers. Lynch’s career includes 9 Pro Bowls, 25 career interceptions and 740 cumulative tackles.
